Gareth Pugh, A/W 09, Video Presentation

Here's a pleasant way to start off this rainy, Richmond morning! Enjoy this awesome video presentation from Gareth Pugh's Autumn/Winter 2009 Collection at Paris Fashion Week. Compliments of me...and YouTube...and Gareth...and Ruth Hogben....and, eh, you get the point.

Word on the Street: Gareth for Dior?!?!

jumping for joy!

The rumors first began circulating earlier this year, right after Gareth Pugh held a runway show for his first menswear collection. The reviews were great and sitting front row was none other than Delphine Arnault, the daughter of LVMH chief Bernard Arnault. People began speculating what her attendance meant for Pugh: would he be picked up by LVMH? That appeared to be the most logical (and most probable) explination. However, others suggested that LVMH might be considering Pugh as a replacement for Kris Van Assche (it's no secret that his work as head designer for Dior Homme has been less than satisfactory....Hedi Slimane left very large boots to be filled). Weeks went by and the rumors eventually died down. Until now, that is! With London Fashion Week under way, sources close to Pugh are saying that he will be announcing his appointment at Dior Homme any day now. Keep 'em crossed folks!

What we can expect Pugh for Dior Homme to look like...ooohhhhhh

Alexander Wang to do menswear!

Lately, it seems as though designers with a niche in either womenswear or menswear are now expanding their business and designing for both sexes. With the economy being so bleak and fashion companies being so hard up for cash these days, do you really blame them? CDFA nominated menswear designer Tim Hamilton recently announced that he would try his hand at designing for women. Rick Owens and wonderboy Gareth Pugh just showed their first menswear collections to rave reviews at Fashion Week in Paris last week. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen plan to add menswear to their high-end label, The Row. And, just today, Style.com is reporting that Alexander Wang (who just came into some extra cash as a CDFA/Vogue Fashion Fund award recipient) is planning to show a men's collection this Fall. Wang even says that he will be wearing the men's pieces himself, so keep your eyes peeled for a little preview. While I'm not usually a tee shirt kind of guy, best believe that I'll be breaking my neck to get my hands on one of his new pieces!
